Reunion with John and Genell

In Summer 2010, I interned for Sam's Club, Walmart Inc. in Bentonville, AR. Little did I know I'd have an awesome summer and come out with 2 great friends. We spent 3 months together and developed a strong bond. We kept in touch over the next two years and now we're in 3 different cities - John is now a membership manager at Sam's Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Genell is a buyer for Georgia-Pacific in Indiana, and I'm of course here in Houston working as a Marketing Specialist for Charming Charlie. We picked up right where we left off! When coordinating flights, I told John and Genell: "There are 2 airports in Houston - IAH and HOU. Pick an airport and coordinate similar times please" and these fools did the complete opposite! John came in at 1PM on Friday and left at 7AM on Sunday; Genell came in at 9PM on Friday and left at 7PM on Sunday. I'm so happy they came but find it comical that they happen to do the complete opposite! Since John left at 7AM on Sunday, we ended up talking all night after the night out which knocked off another to-do on my 101 in 1001 list.

We went for modern mexican at TQLA on Washington and headed to Kung Fu Saloon for dancing and free skee ball. The next day, we waited in line for the renowned Breakfast Klub on Travis st. We got there around 11am and didn't seat until 12:30. The Breakfast Klub work fast! Once you place your order and grab your condiments, your food is already waiting for you at the table. They are known for their Wings and Waffle. This is soooo worth the wait. The cripsy battered wings smothered in syrup with a fluffy waffle is sooo good! Definitely worth the wait and repeat visits. There's currently a google offer for $10 for $20 worth - get it until 10/17.

After an amazing breafkast, we headed back to my apartment and layed out at the pool. For our night out, we chilled at Cafe Layal in Midtown - hookah and BYOB. I'm always a fan of the Apple Mint. It's a pretty popular spot so I put in a reservation. There's a parking lot in the back but your best bet is to just valet for $5. My only complaint about this place is their weird mix of music. There's hardly any transition, one moment there's middle eastern music (twist the lightbulb, pat the dog - anyone?) to rap to EDM. There isn't a good flow and creates a weird vibe. Since we were in midtown, we decided to hit up the bars around the corner. We went to Wonder Bar and Drinkery. I like these bars because they play a good mix of new and old hip hop sprinkled in with EDM. Wish there was more of a dance floor, people just kinda dance where they can.
